Gay: I Was Touched by Audience Calling My Name

Athletes’ Quotes:

Tyson Gay, winner of the 100m

„I must apologize to Nesta Carter as I hit him with my elbow around the 80th metre. I had a better time than this in my legs but I slipped at the start and then the crash with Carter took away a few hundredths of a second. I didn’t run as fast as I had wanted. I really wanted to run a new personal best. I liked the atmosphere of such a meeting, I felt better than in the Diamond League. The atmosphere was pleasant, relaxed and I was especially touched when fans called my name before the start of the race. I would like to come back here again.“

Koji Murofushi, Hammer Challenge winner:

„I am very happy to have won the Challenge, I still cannot believe it. It means a lot to me that the new approach, in which I put quality before the number of competitions I participated in, has paid. I am planning a similar approach for the next year.“

Dwight Thomas Wins Memorial Race

With 13.40 he came close to his season’s best by 12 hundredths of a second and he bested US hurdler Joel Brown, who had been better than him this season. Jurica Grabusic ran 13.88, 20 hundredths of a second short of his season’s best. Let us mention that the meeting record is 12.98, set by US hurdler Mark Crear back in 1999. Thomas – another big name on the list of Zagreb winners. (more…)
